CBS2′s Chicago-land reporter Dorothy Tucker spent some time reviewing the very best cash back credit cards for gas rebatess recently. Everyone has to buy gas and the pain at the pump seems to grow every week. If you are looking to lessen that sting, look into paying with a rewards credit card that offers a cash rebate for each gas purchase. Simply be sure to remember to pay off your balance in full every month to get the full benefit of those rewards.
One of the experts’ top picks for rewards cards for gas purchases include Discover’s Gas & Restaurants Credit Card. This gives its cardholders 2% back on gas purchases and 1% on all other purchases. Also noted was Chase Freedom’s Visa card, which had similar rewards. Some branded cards were Marathon’s card, which offers a rebate of 5-25 cents per gallon of gas. Exxon Mobil offers a 15-cent rebate. However, that is the only place that you can earn the rewards.
The rewards can add up quickly. For every $50 a week you spend in gas, you earn $2.50, which in turn is $130 a year. Since rewards cards often have a higher interest rate than other cards, be sure to pay the balance off every month.
